ASIS provides its members access to worldwide-accepted certification programs, standards and guidelines, events, and other resources. While membership, education, training, and access to resources do not come cheap, but the quality of products and resources are well worth the price tag. Education and Training Programs:
ASIS provides education and training in the form of educational programs, certifications and certificate programs. ASIS offers three board certifications:Certified Protection Professional (CPP)®,Professional Certified Investigator (PCI)®, and Physical Security Professional (PSP)®. These three certifications are often sought after by private companies hiring for property security positions. There is also increased earning potential with these three certification.
In-addition to certifications ASIS also offers certificate programs in a variety of security related fields, but the main two are ASIS Assets Protection Course (APC I, II, III), and Executive Protection. ASIS updates their certificate and education programs periodically so it is best to visit their website to see what programs they are currently offering. You do not have to be a member to take a certification, certificate or education/training program, but the non-member prices are significantly higher than member prices.
Lastly, ASIS International has had their certification programs (CPP, PCI, PSP) evaluated by the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT®), and the council has recommended college credit be awarded for these certifications.
ASIS offers membership to individuals, students, and corporations. Membership prices start at $195 annually, there is also a one time $20 application fee.
